Travel Tech Must-Haves

When You Can’t Leave Home Without It

When it’s time to hit the road, I’ve realized that besides the essentials like toothpaste and underwear (because let’s face it, no one wants to be caught without those), there are a few tech tools that are absolute lifesavers. I mean, come on, in this day and age, it’s like our smartphones are the Swiss army knives of travel. They do it all! Need a map? Check. Want to communicate in a foreign language? No problem. Oh, and don’t get me started on how they double up as a camera, boarding pass, vacation planner, and entertainment hub. Honestly, my smartphone does everything but pack my bags for me!

Here are a few items I keep in my carryon whenever I hit the road.

Beats Headphones

I’m a music fanatic! I practically live in my headphones, jamming from takeoff to touchdown. When it comes to great sound, my go-to choice is the Beats Studio 3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-Ear Headphones. You can grab a pair on Amazon for $159 (https://www.amazon.com/Beats-Studio3-Wireless-Over%E2%80%91Ear-Headphones/dp/B08528YFM3?th=1). The sound quality is amazing, it’s like music to my ears – and movie soundtracks sound like a high def theater! Plus, the case has a handy clip for easy attachment to your bag handle, perfect for quick access. And let’s not forget the added bonus of drowning out noisy babies or chatty seatmates. Bliss!

Twelve South Airfly

This is a recent addition to my travel tech collection. It is the Twelve South AirFly SE Bluetooth Wireless Audio Transmitter. It connects with any 3.5 mm audio jack so that you can listen through your headphones without the annoying cord getting in the way. It can be used on airplanes, TV’s, iPads and on Gym Equipment so no more headphones getting ripped off your ears while you are on the treadmill (we’ve ALL been there….). I got mine from Amazon for 34.99 (https://rb.gy/vcm2dv)and it really comes in handy when your seatmate needs to get up and you don’t want to disconnect from the entertainment system.

The ChargeCard by AquaVault

Now, you absolutely need this. It’s been dubbed the world’s skinniest portable charger, and it packs a serious punch. For those inevitable travel hiccups (United Airlines, I’m looking at you), or just as a safety net for everyday power emergencies at home, this tiny powerhouse has got your back without being a nuisance. Plus, it comes with its own carrying case for easy access to the unit and the USB charging cord. You can snag it on the AquaVault website for $59.95 here (though I lucked out and got mine for half the price during a View Your Deal special on ABC’s The View talk show).

Apple Air Tags

Of all the gadgets I travel with, these little fellas are like the superheroes of my luggage; they’re the insurance policy you don’t need until you need it! You pop them in your bags and can then play “Where’s my bag?” on your phone. Let me tell you how my Tag once saved my bag’s day. We had just boarded our flight, headed for home, when I decided to check my Tag app and discovered that my bag was making a daring escape AWAY from me. I promptly checked the airline app, only to find out that my bag was headed for the Windy City, while I was bound for Motor City! Thank goodness for the swift intervention of the Delta flight attendant (major shoutout to Delta Airlines), who sprang into action, contacted the baggage crew, and oversaw my wayward Tag’s triumphant reunion with my plane. I got four tags from Amazon for $79.99(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0932QJ2JZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and also invested in some cute cases to hold them for $7.99 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B31R1BCF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1) Trust me when I say these are comfort and security you will love to have!

Now, Where to Store it All?

Now, if you’re trying to figure out where to stash all the gadgets and cables for your travels, check out the FYY Electronic organizer. It’s a waterproof double-sided storage bag that can hold my AquaVault credit card charger (in its pouch), AirFLy (also in its pouch), smartphone and charger, and a bunch of other random cords. You can grab it on Amazon for just $11.99 in every color under the sun, but let’s be real, I just had to get the purple one. https://rb.gy/ybl6s5
